No one would blame if you think that ATWiki is a bit unusual, especially due to the variety of purposes it serves. The software can be used for numerous things, from keeping a journal or managing To-do lists to creating websites. It is based on TiddlyWiki, so any content you write and store can be kept in a single HTML file, regardless if it includes CSS or JavaScript elements.

ATWiki is offered as a freeware application, for all modern Windows platforms. It comes in a 7ZIP archive and you only need to extract and run an executable, without going through an installation process. There is no need to install any special tools or services and you don't need powerful hardware.

The software comes with a clean and simple user interface. You may create one or more tiddlers, which can be journal entries or anything else that involves text. Once you create a new tiddler, which takes only one click, you will find everything you need to format your text, add special and so on. Additionally, the software lets you specify the content type, which can be HTML markup, images, a data dictionary, JavaScript code or others. Another useful feature is the possibility of adding custom fields to individual tiddlers.

Completed tiddlers are displayed in the same place where you edit them. Furthermore, the left side of the user interface is where you will find a wide range of useful options. By default, the software provides you with basic options, for creating new tiddlers or accessing the general settings menu, but you can you can find many more options, on the Tools tab, which allow you to create journal entries, manage tags, export content and much more. Also, the software lets you add these options as buttons, next to the basic ones, so you can perform said operations much faster.

ATWiki may not catch your attention at first, but if you take your time to see how it works and how it stores your content, you will definitely find that it can be an invaluable tool. It may take a few minutes to figure out the user interface and its controls, but it can be done without too much effort, without the need to go through any documentation.

From writing a simple journal entry to creating a website, everything can be done in a comfortable and elegant fashion with ATWiki.

Pros

The software stores all your content in a single HTML file, which can contain plain text, HTML, CSS or JavaScript. It places everything you need to format your text right in front of you. Its user interface has a simple design and its controls are easy to master.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to address.
